a lucky art detective

Today, I'm an art detective.

In my new job, I'm tasked with updating the City's ArtBank, the pretty sweet collection of work that the Arts Commission has acquired over its thirty-one years. The cataloging needs updating, understandably as it s a pretty giant and tedious job to get it into a computer system (PastPerfect) while the city grows, departments change offices, and art sometimes moves along with folks.

I'm tracking the work down, photographing, writing descriptions, updating information and hoping I'm getting it all right.

Another of the tasks that make me question if all my jobs are real-- that I really get to spend all day most days looking for art, laerning about art, writing about art, talking with artists, promoting artists, teaching art-- before finally making my own.
